Some of Our Training Programs
Active Learning Connection/ALC provides training in crucial areas such as MANAGEMENT, SUPERVISION, and LEADERSHIP SKILLS, as one example. Our programs are designed to equip you with practical skills and resources applicable to your work, regardless of your sector.

ALC also provides GRANT WRITING training.
Register today -- $225/each or $400 to train a team of two (if trainee(s) register before August 1st and if trainee(s) travels to me; if I travel to your site outside of Dane County, the travel time/expense is $100 for each trip). A $25 materials fee is an additional charge per person to cover cost of handouts. Coaching and feedback for when you write your first grant independently is offered, also.
NOTE: Rates will increase August 1, 2025 for registrations that occur after August 1st
This training provides new grant writers with practical hands-on experience to apply knowledge of the entire grant writing process, AND writing of a sample grant proposal ready for submission, AND receiving one-on-one feedback and guidance.
Overview of what this training includes:
**your role as the grant writer,
**expected ethics of grant writing,
**your vision/justifying why funding is needed for your nonprofit,
**writing a 1 page summary of your proposed project or program,
**securing buy-in for your project/program,
**how to find grant funding opportunities,
**how to read an RFP,
**the core components included in all grant proposal though proposal applications vary for private, corporate, foundation, state government, federal government, United Way, etc.,
**creative brainstorming to plan activities for your grant project/program,
**development of a submission timeline,
**how to write competitive grant proposals that include your vision for change, project/program goals, implementation and impact,
**benefits to the target people/animal population,
**goals/objectives of your project/program,
**activities to include in your project/program,
**developing a budget for the grant proposal,
**preparing supplemental documents to include,
**writing a cover letter,
**receiving feedback on your proposal before submitting it,
**how to pitch your idea in a letter of inquiry.
Meeting Community Needs
We are committed to delivering our services directly to nonprofits, animal shelters, veterans, and seniors. We also prioritize serving underserved populations in smaller, poorer, rural areas.
Currently, we provide in-person trainings. In the near future, we will be expanding our reach with online training programs accessible through the Canvas platform, making lifelong learning even more convenient and affordable.
